Still from Le Magnifique

Good news for all you francophiles out there– Films on the Green, the classic free summer movie series from the French Embassy and Parks & Rec, is hosting two nights of cinema in Transmitter Park this Summer. So get ready for some subtitled drama au Francais. What could be better than some French wine, cheese, and films on a balmy summer evening? C’est superb!

Here’s the sched:

7/25: Le Magnifique by (dir. Philippe de Broca) is an action comedy about a secret agent, Bob Saint-Clair, and his super hot sidekick, Tatiana, who are attacked on the shores of an exotic beach by a horde of enemies. Among the attackers is a maid in the sand… (very French ending, apparently). The film also appears to include a shark tank scene, a mariachi band, and the main character sporting a coral pink suit.

8/1: 2 Autumns, 3 Winters (dir. Sébastien Betbeder) is a little more contemporary (2013) and a lot more indie/existential. It’s a comedy about a 33-year-old who decides to start his new life with an evening jog and runs into his soul mate, Amélie. Meanwhile his friend suffers a mild stroke and falls in love with his therapist.

Check out Films on the Green’s fb page for more info and we’ll see you there, baguettes in hand. Bonne soirée!
