last night’s Bambara set ⚡️ : @fa.fina

A post shared by The Silent Barn (@silentbarn) on

North Brooklyn’s music scene is thriving, though our smaller and DIY music and performance venues are dwindling. Greenpoint’s favorite Manhattan Inn closed late last year, to much neighborhood disappointment. Shea Stadium recently shut its doors once again a few weeks ago, for apparently the last time. Legendary venue Don Pedro’s sang its swan song earlier this year. Secret Project Robot, which was a pioneering Williamsburg art/performance/weirdness space back in the early aughts, now located in Bushwick, somehow is managing to stay alive, having recently reopened again.

And now Silent Barn (603 Bushwick Ave), having finally received its liquor license, is asking for financial help. And to keep things on the up-and-up, they’ve released their official financial history and budgets to the public. Brooklyn Bazaar (150 Greenpoint Ave) is hosting a benefit show for them tonight (July 7) at 7pm, and tickets are $10. There will be a 15-minute Q&A with Silent Barn’s Financial Manager Jordan Michael Iannucci, plus sets from FitsPeaer and Crosslegged.

Kidding aside, while our money troubles are serious we do have a really bright future ahead of us which includes our new *~*liquor bar* (we have SHOTS NOW!)*~*, but due to that bar having been delayed for so long by bureaucratic problems with the SLA, we are significantly behind on cash and need your help! We’re sure it’s no news to anyone that times are tough now, and we have been experiencing a lot of growing pains lately, but we can say with confidence that this moment we are in right now is our awkward adolescent stage between our adorable childhood and our stellar future.

Don’t believe us? Well, why should you. This world is garbage and filled with disappointments, so to put our money where our mouth is we are releasing a review of our entire financial history. But wait, there’s more! It isn’t just our past we are being transparent about, because we are also sharing budgets for the next 5 years as well as 2017’s budget.

**This Friday we are having a benefit concert at Brooklyn Bazaar with Fits, Crosslegged and Peaer (solo set) with an open Q&A to field any questions you might have about Silent Barn’s financial state. The only reason we are doing this is because if you are going to support us we want you to know that we will be accountable for that support to the best of our ability!**

So please, come out to this show on Friday to support us, please donate and please consider buying an annual membership, which would give you free access to all of Silent Barn’s shows!
