The Queens-based lifestyle shop Lockwood announced their expansion to Greenpoint with plans to open at 98 Greenpoint Ave. in September.

“We’ve been looking to expand for a long time and we just found that Greenpoint was the friendliest neighborhood, and we found a really amazing spot with really friendly landlords, so it was just meant to be,” said owner Mackenzi Farquer

The original Lockwood store (32-15 33rd St.) opened in 2013 in Astoria with a focus on home goods and Farquer quickly expanded her business to sell women’s clothing at Lockwood Style (33-06 Broadway) and stationary at Lockwood Paper (33-02 Broadway). The future Greenpoint location will be a mix of all three. Farquer also opened a Lockwood in Jackson Heights (7713 37th Ave.). Farquer also opened a Lockwood store in Jackson Heights and runs the local news blog We Heart Astoria.

The 98 Greenpoint Ave. location will have to undergo a full renovation prior to Lockwood setting up shop, Farquer said, adding that she picked Greenpoint over other areas such as Long Island City due to the local emphasis on independent businesses.
